About the company

Running Blind was formed in 2006 by Sivan Gabrielovich, as a production company dedicated to the creation of performance and video works that are politically charged, interdisciplinary and original.


Sivan Gabrielovich - Biography

Originally from Israel, Sivan has been based in Melbourne since 1998, and have been writing, directing and performing her work, while completing her Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Animateuring (Performance Making) at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Sivan’s work has been professionally produced in Melbourne and Sydney, and has been supported by The Australia Council, The City of Melbourne, The Myer Foundation, The Norman Rothfield Family, Arts House through the TransLab residency, a joint project of Performance Space and Arts House.

Sivan’s performance and video works include Scratched, (An Australia Council TransLab Initiative, Arts House 2008), What Do You Think About Me? (Meat Market), Wall Stories (fortyfivedownstairs), Home Grown (Fringe 07), Musicircus (MIAF 2008), Trolleyed, Shaved and Roller Disco (Pork Collective, Underbelly Festival), God Willing, Bias (X:machine), Trolleyed in The Bush (Pork in the bush), Take Me For A Ride (Short & Sweet 2005), The Gaza Strip Show, (invited to be a part of the Incubator Program at Gallery 96F CAE), and Hunger.doc.

Writing credits include Home Grown for the 2007 Fringe Festival, Senseless (X:machine writers’ collaboration), The Hit (Creative Development, Parallelo 2005), The Cool Room (Belvoir St Theatre and La Mama, Sydney season Produced by Performing Lines), The Gaza Strip Show, Home Grown, A Letter To A Palestinian Friend I never Had, and Take Me For A Ride.
Sivan’s writing has been featured at Belvoir Downstairs (Sydney), La Mama, ICRC International Peace Conference, the Melbourne Festival umbrella program, Playbox Theatre in the Raw, Melbourne University and the Australian National Playwright’s Conference (Student Laboratory).

Directing credits include Wipe Me (Short and Sweet 2006), To Hades and Back (Fringe 2005), Dust (Your Text Here, Black Box), Split and Darwin’s Dangerous Idea for La Mama. Sivan also produced Still Waiting for La Mama and the 2005 Adelaide Fringe.
